DON’T WORRY: When MacLean’s Restaurant closed, more than a year ago, I was worried that my favorite hole-in-the-wall breakfast place was going away? I had, for years, enjoyed the family-friendly feel of the cozy, little spot. Well, there was no need to worry.
If anything, Eat 33, the restaurant that opened in its place at 6901 Staples Mill Road, is even better, and the ladies there are just as friendly. I’m a little partial to Cindy, because she’s usually the one who serves me. But, they’re all great and so is the food.
Eat 33 is owned by Allen Davis, who had formerly operated Shenanigans in the North Side. In fact, you can even order a Shenanigan Burger.
The place is open for breakfast and lunch (6 a.m. ‘til 2 p.m. Monday through Friday/7 a.m. ‘til 3 p.m. on the weekends) daily, with a really great brunch on Saturday and Sunday. Besides the standard fare, their breakfast menu may be one of the most creative in town.
